Latinos and HIV/AIDS: Some Statistics
Recent statistics show that a drastically increasing number of Latinos are affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. According to the CDC, through 2001 over 115,000 Latino men and 26,000 Latina women have been diagnosed with AIDS.

Please remember that HIV/AIDS figures are based on reported cases only. Many Latinos may be infected with HIV but be unaware of it because they have not been tested. Only after a person has been tested can he or she be diagnosed as having HIV.

Education is the first step to prevention: Get informed!

Note: White, African American, Asian American, American Indian/Alaska Native, and other/multi-racial groups do not include those of Latino origin. May not total 100% because of rounding.
